My heart swells as I prepare to head back to north Florida’s beautiful Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park and Campground. For the second year in a row The String Cheese Incident returns to this venue for their legendary Hulaween run.  Nestled in the heart of the Suwanee River Valley, the campgrounds truly are a sight for the dreamer’s eyes.

Spirit of the Suwanee is no stranger to amazing music.  They host multiple music festivals and concerts throughout the year.  Some festivals have been held there for 13+ years.  One great aspect of the festival grounds is that there is no “bad” place to camp.  All of the designated areas are in the forest with plenty of beautiful trees and draping Spanish moss.  There is also an awesome beach on the river. You can enjoy this space, with a morning hike, just one mile from the main festival grounds.

If the beautiful scenery doesn’t draw you to Spirit of the Suwanee this Halloween, the music lineup definitely will.  In addition to SEVEN SETS of The String Cheese Incident, Beats AntiqueBig GiganticRising AppalachiaThievery CorporationShpongleThe New DealGreensky BluegrassKeller Williams, and many more will be in attendance.

I am particularly excited for the heavenly voices of Rising Appalachia, a sister duo from Atlanta, GA. I saw them for the first time in State Bridge, CO at YarmonyGrass and was astounded by their authentic, spiritual and heart-warming music. Their beautiful vocal harmonies lift their audience in an inspiring way.  They also incorporate banjos, fiddles, trumpet, and beat boxing.  This isn’t a set you want to miss!

Greensky Bluegrass from Kalamazoo, MI has recently taken off in a great way.  Over the past few years they have refined their sound and established themselves as a big player in the bluegrass game. The incredible talent of each musician makes their upbeat shows amazing experiences. I also highly recommend their newly released album, “If Sorrow Swims”.

Hulaween will also be transforming the Suwanee river into what they call “Spirit Lake”.  Taken from their website, “Fans can expect an epic fusion of dazzling lights, art installations, and performance art that morphs the Spirit Lake waterfront and adjacent forest into a vivid dream-like space that fully engages the senses”.  They brought together painters, sculptors, fire/metal workers, performance artists and light designers for this project- can’t wait to see how it turns out!!
